Always fancied giving Modern Warfare 3 a try, but not enough to fork out your hard-earned cash? This weekend, Steam may just have a solution for you.
Game distribution site Steam have joined forces with Activision to offer all users of their service the chance to play the entire multiplayer experience this weekend for absolutely nothing. Every feature of the multiplayer will be open to players during this time; however the ability to play the single player campaign will remain a locked privilege for those willing to pay.
The event will begin for all Steam users on Thursday 16th February at 10am Pacific Time and will run all the way through the remainder of the weekend. What's more, Steam have allowed players to begin pre-loading the game now, so that when the time comes for all multiplayer functionality to be handed over, players will be able to access any and all content immediately.
As the event is being run and promoted by Steam, a Steam account and a viable PC to run the game are required. This also means that the free weekend is only available to PC users who have access to a valid Steam account.
To begin pre-loading the game ahead of Thursday's activities, visit here. If you are not currently a user of Steam but would like to take part in this weekend's events, visit here for more information on what Steam is, and how you can get your very own account.
Will you be joining in the events over Steam? Perhaps you're a console player who's always been interested in trying a PC version? Let us know via the official Digital Warfare forums, or leave a comment below!
